A DOCUMENTARY BY KONSTANTINOS KAMBOUROGLOU

73-year-old designer, collector and teacher Stergios Delialis lives like a ghost amidst the ruins of his dream: the Design Museum of Thessaloniki. The only one of its kind since the 90s, home to more than 3000 exhibits of industrial design, it organised dozens of exhibitions and seminars that nurtured the city’s flourishing design scene. The emblematic creator and collector experiences the collision of his dream for a design museum in Thessaloniki with financial reality. Konstantinos Kambouroglou, a director who grew up in Thessaloniki and lives in New York, where he is active through his company Gouse Films, had wanted to make a film on Stergios Delialis and the lost Museum for years. He states: “What interested me was Stergios as an outlook on life: an inspired collector and relentless disciple of design, who cannot stray from his choices”. An uncompromising gentleman of design, he struggles to salvage the meaning of his life, in a film that records one of the most romantic stories of culture, pop culture, and Don Quixote-type stubbornness of modern times.

Discussion to follow

Foreword – coordination: Aris Dimokidis
Participants: Yiannis Boutaris, Stergios Delialis, Konstantinos Kambouroglou, Dimitris Fragos, Tellos Filis
