Tribute to Alfred Schnittke

Alfred Schnittke, one of the most important composers of the 20th century, who deeply influenced avant garde and chamber music, dedicated his life to trying “to unify serious and light music, even”, as he said, “if I have to break my neck in the process”.
He developed a personal style characterised as “multi-style”, he influenced the work of Shostakovich, he composed symphonies, chamber music, film soundtracks, he turned out a significant volume of work despite his fragile health.
The group that consists of Andreas Papanikolaou and Giorgos Petropoulos on violins, David Bogorad on the viola, Dimos Godaroulis on the cello, Vassilis Liamarkopoulos on the bass, and Lola Totsiou on the piano will perform Schnittke’s ‘Hymn II’, ‘Piano Trio’, and ‘Piano Quintet’.
