SHARED SACRED SITES

As they have done in the past and according to centuries of practice, so it is nowadays that many Christians, Muslims, and Jews pray at sacred sites that belong to other religions. What are their interactions and in what ways do they leave a trail behind them? The existence of common sacred sites is a phenomenon with deep roots in the Mediterranean, which reveals the permeability of the borders between religious communities.

The three-part exhibition ‘Shared Sacred Sites’ explores the similarities and contrasts, the reciprocities and conflict of the various forms of faith that have been carried out in a ‘shared sacred site’, the world of the Mediterranean. A charming record, a multi-faceted exhibition that spreads throughout various cultural spaces of Thessaloniki, in order to correlate art with theology and anthropological research.
