KARAGIOZIS SHADOW PUPET THEATRE BY MUSIC HIGH SCHOOL OF THESSALONIKI PUPIL NIKOLAS KOULELIS

Folk art meets the musical stave in an original event by the Music High School of Thessaloniki. Based on the idea and texts of student Nikolas Koulelis, Karagiozis Shadow Puppet Theatre receives a soundtrack drawing on the entirety of the musical tradition the educational institution’s junior high has to offer. With approximately 370 students attending this year and a teaching staff of about 100, the Music High School of Thessaloniki is a model educational institution, providing its students with the potential to cultivate their artistic sensibilities through the values of cooperation and teamwork. The 60-minute performance presents Karagiozis’ adventures, accompanied by songs and tunes from all over Greece, while the violin, bagpipes, kanun, clarinet and zither play in harmony with the style of shadow puppet theatre.
