Event Details

The 100th anniversary since the end of World War I is the opportunity to honour the memory of those who struggled to restore peace, through an event of solidarity and shared emotion.

In the city of Thessaloniki, a theatre of great military action during World War I, known back then as the Eastern Front, and at Zeitenlik cemetery, where more than 20,000 soldiers from different countries are buried, including 8200 French subjects, the wonderful sounds of music will flood this place of burial and collective memory.

Conducted by Philippe Forget and with Marilena Liakopoulou on the piano and Dimitris Patras on the cello, pieces by Debussy, Fauré, Emmanuel, Kosma, Poulenc will be performed, as well as ‘Zeitelnik, the Restoration of Peace’, a composition for piano, cello, and narrator, which was created for the centenary of the end of World War I.
