Event Details

Theatre, music, and visual arts are combined in an exemplary inspired adaptation of the masterpiece of the same name by Isaac Albéniz from 1908. In the hands of Karin Schäfer the multifaceted original is transformed into a visual spectacle with impressionistic imagery that merges puppets, masks, video, shadows, animation, motion, and music, so that the audience members might follow the events with thier own ears and eyes.

The creator has been influenced by a number or styles and works of art, which she cleverly and humorously transforms into moving images, the result of many years of hard work in her workshop.

Similarly to Albéniz, who incorporates melodies, rhythms, and motifs from traditional Spanish music into his compositions, Karin Schäfer utilises the elements of many pieces by visual artists as a visual-theatrical homage and simultaneous connection to something completely unique and new. All of this, together with the exceptional execution of the sheet music and accompaniment of the performance on the piano by maestro Christopher Hinterhuber.
