DIRECTED BY KOSTAS FILIPPOGLOU AND PRODUCED BY GOODHEART PRODUCTIONS

A performance based on the autobiographical and incredibly funny “theatrical novel” by Mikhail Bulgakov, which he wrote at the same time as ‘The Master and Margarita’, but which he left unfinished due to his death. In his work, Bulgakov outlines a gallery of characters from theatre and the letters, grotesquely highlighted in an increasingly suffocating dance around the lonely, desperate figure of the author, who is searching for a way to make a living from his work, while at the same time remaining faithful to his literary vision and himself. Director Kostas Filippoglou uses the tools of physical theatre to create a poetic, humorous performance, with intense cinematic interchanges of imagery and a relentless rhythm, breathing life into a work that highlights the oppression and marginalisation experienced by innovative creators at the hands of the establishment, by younger artists at the hands of older artists and by helpless citizens at the hands of authority.
