MULTI-THEMED FESTIVAL

The festival that believes in young people and is charmed by their aesthetic codes. The fact that this is the twelfth consecutive year this event is being held is indicative of the affection with which the Thessaloniki audience has embraced the great celebration of skateboarding, the arts, sports, and urban culture. More than 1000 works by Greek and foreign artists have been presented during the 7Ply Project, while the festival has hosted numerous skateboard competitions and shows, skateboard lessons, meetings and workshops, guided by contemporary art, street dance, screenings, graffiti on walls and specially designed surfaces, concerts and DJ sets, all kinds of events focused on street culture and the interests of young audiences. Keeping skateboarding at the visual and athletic core of its themes, this year’s 7Ply Project presents a group exhibition at the French Institute of Thessaloniki, in the framework of which artists are invited to transform boards, each using their own perspective and technique, with absolute aesthetic freedom. The resulting object is a completely reborn board, defined by the visual rules set by the artist themselves.
